In this quick read, we get a nifty story concerning Mary. She is Amish, and due to her upbringing and familial beliefs, she has to hide her love of painting from everyone. It also turns out that her father is hiding some things as well, which is played out interestingly. Eventually, her paintings are discovered by a famous painter, and we follow their relationship as it blossoms- all while knowing it can never last.Of note, this is only the second Amish related story I have read and this was the best of the two. I really dig how the author has this uncanny ability to convey what it is like to live in the Amish culture. There is an odd sense of urgency, without references to much technology. Keeping the background events simple and meaningful.
Looking forward to more from this author.

Love it I'm a painter so understood the passion

This book is very sweet I love the subject painting and I love the way you made it secret then came forward With a very nice ending
This was a wonderful fast-moving book. The characters are well developed . The author keeps you interested all the way through. It helps one see that shutting someone out can upset a whole family. Forgiveness and trust in God is the only way to be healed
Mary has to secretly hide her love of painting from her family. She often sneaks away to do the forbidden craft. She and a friend sneak off to enjoy an art exhibition. Mary loves the painting she sees by a man named Vincent. One day Mary is discovered by a young man who is impressed by her work. Turns out he is Vincent, the famous painter. Her dad has a secret past and it is found out. Mary and Vincent grow to love one another but can never be together. Very short book and not a lot of meat to it. That is why I gave it this rating.
Mary loves to paint, but everyone says it is a waste of time. So she has a make shift cabin in the woods where she goes to paint and leaves her canvases there.
Mary meets an English painter and they fall for each other. However, she finds out that her father knows the Englishers father and literally dislikes him. She sees no way this relationship can continue.
This is a very grabbing story. My heart went out to what Mary went through with her family and never feeling like she fit in. Then to fall in love with the son of the one man her father refuses to forgive. She feels totally lost.
A great story, keeps moving and grabs your attention. Definitely worth reading!
